New Trends in Vinyl Siding

Posted on September 14, 2018

Quad Cities Vinyl Siding

Trends in interior design, but especially home construction, tend to vary based on the region you find yourself in. One of the most common building materials used nationwide, however, is vinyl siding. Because of its relative cost-efficiency and durability, vinyl siding is still the go-to material of choice for many homeowners and designers. Over the past few years, with the advent of new technology and construction techniques, vinyl has seen a resurgence of design capabilities. As such, design trends have developed that took this new vinyl siding into consideration. These are some of the new trends that can be found when looking at vinyl siding.

Color Variations

One of the biggest trends that can be found across all aspects of home construction and design is the introduction of darker colors into the design's color scheme. For the past few years, darker colors have slowly begun creeping back into the design sphere, and they have just recently become mainstream. New vinyl siding construction techniques also allow for a larger variation of color to be available to homeowners.

The trend, however, isn't to just use these dark colors by themselves. The darker hues are being used in conjunction with lighter tones to create contrast on the side of the house. Designers and homeowners are using these colors together to create depth and an interesting focal point for the home.

Another very popular trend in siding currently is the use of vinyl siding along with a small segment of natural material. Because natural material like stone, steel, or brick is so expensive, it is often used to highlight a small section of the home, while vinyl siding is then installed on the rest of the house. Typically, homeowners choose the front entryway of their house for the natural material to make its biggest mark.

Other times, however, the different siding material is used to finish the look of an outdoor living space. As the size of homes has decreased over the past few years, people are turning toward creating livable outdoor spaces to expand the usable space of their home. Having a different color or material on the siding next to this outdoor space is a great way to incorporate that space's design aesthetic with the rest of the home. It is also a visual way to differentiate the outdoor space from the rest of the house.

Going Green

Over the past few years, homeowners have become increasingly environmentally-aware. There had been some concern over the sustainability of vinyl siding. However, new innovations in vinyl siding have decreased the environmental impact of the material. Additionally, insulated vinyl has increasingly become the vinyl siding of choice for most contractors. This insulated siding is Energy Star certified and will be able to reduce your energy costs over time.
